Beer Babes and Friends,

April is officially NC Beer Month, and we have partnered with a lot of different groups to bring some truly awesome events into the Charlotte Beer Babes’ hands in celebration of this month of NC Beer. See all their events here as well.

For anyone who saw the Pink Boots Society Ladies Brew items in March, we will be going to Legion Brewing and NoDa Brewing for the releases of the beers we collectively helped to make! The style of Big Boots Brew this year was a Gosé [pron: go-seh] (flavors include lemon, herbs, and salt, are not hoppy, and are 4-5% ABV.). The NoDa version, Girls Gosé Wild with Cucumber, and the Legion version, Girls Gosé Wild with Hibiscus, will both be released exclusively in their own breweries on Monday, April 4. Then on Tuesday, April 5, you can get both beers at both breweries to sample! RSVP for April 5 to NoDa on Meetup and Facebook.

On Wednesday, April 6, we will be doing a Tap Takeover with Sara from Artisan Beverage Group [local distributor] at Growler USA [Ballantyne]! We will have our event from 5-10pm, however this deal is an all-day, for everyone kind of thing! We will be doing a 5-sample flight “Summer Sippers” for $10, with $1 off subsequent pint/growlers of those 5 beers [all day]. We also will get to hear Sara talk about these beers and their styles at 7:30pm for a semi-informal class! RSVP on Meetup and Facebook.

If you’re interested in a charity/brunch opportunity to kick off the month, Hope Is Brewing will be on Saturday, April 9, from 10am-1pm as a ticketed event benefiting Love146, a non-profit working to end child trafficking and exploitation. This event is being held at C3 Labs (2525 Distribution Street, 28203).

We will be doing our monthly Second Saturday Beer Education on Saturday, April 9, at The Beer Growler-Charlotte from 1-4pm. Class will be on the style of IPAs! This is a $12 class that includes 5 different samples of beers in this style. RSVP on Meetup or Facebook.

We will be doing a two part volunteer event with Girls On The Run Charlotte!
APRIL 23:
– We will be volunteering or walking/running in the Saturday, April 23rd, South Charlotte 5K. Volunteers RSVP to my email. To run/walk, sign up on the 5K site. Then heading to brunch & drinks at Mac’s Speed Shop (Ayrsley) from 11:30am-2pm. RSVP to Mac’s on Meetup or Facebook.
APRIL 30:
– We’ll be repeating all of the volunteering or walking/running fun on Saturday, April 30, for the North Charlotte 5K. Volunteers RSVP to my email. To run/walk, sign up on the 5K site. We will then head to brunch & drinks at Duckworth’s Huntersville from 11:30am-2pm. RSVP to Duckworth’s on Meetup or Facebook.
Volunteers for either 5K race day, please email me at charlottebeerbabes@yahoo.com to confirm, with your name and cell phone information. Volunteers will be working from 6:30am-10:30am (for either/both 5Ks). This is open to everyone, but we’d love to have a group of ladies out to support the Girls On The Run, of course!!

We will be going to Three Spirits Brewing for our Last Wednesday Brewery Visit on Wednesday, April 27, from 6-8pm. RSVP on Meetup or Facebook.

We will be doing a Meet The Brewers beer education event with Birdsong Brewing on a date still TBD at Birdsong Brewing Company. Cost will likely be $15 and includes a tasting and education session of 5 beers with the brewers of Birdsong! Stay tuned to RSVP once we finalize the day and time information!

We will be doing a Sour Beer Bottle Share at Carolina Beer Temple on a date still TBD, but likely on Sunday, April 24th, in the afternoon. For all of you unfamiliar, a bottle share is when everyone brings (or in this case buys) a different beer to share with the larger group. Everyone takes 1-3 oz samples (depending on the size of the bottle) so that everyone is literally trying a taste of everything. Typically, for a group of 10, you might see 13-14 bottles shared (between 12oz and 22oz sizes). The goal is to share what you like, or want to try out, with others. This also works out great to try a beer that you maybe wouldn’t drink ALL of but want to try nonetheless! So come join us for the Sour Beer Fun once we finalize the day and time!

Looking forward to a busy and fun April with all of you!

Slainté,
Bethany
